> Woodcarving; not just because it's useful for her quirk, but simply because it's a fun way to kill time when she doesn't have access to her games an anime

DISLIKES
> Bullying and abuse of power/authority

More than anything else, Setsuna is a passionate girl and an avid lover of all things related to samurai. Be it a live-action series/movie, anime, manga or a video game, she can't get enough of it, to the point of being an outright samurai otaku. That said, she has a bit of a romanticized view of them, and her love of samurai occasionally borders on an obsession. Especially since she doesn't respond well to any criticism of samurai or her love of them.
She has a strong sense of justice, and has very little tolerance for cheating and cheap-shot. She also despises anyone who would bully someone weaker than them, or use their power/authority as an excuse to look down on others. Unfortunately, her strong sense of justice is rather rigid, and she cares little about personal motives, no matter how desperate they might have been. A crime is a crime, and criminals need to be punished.
Last but not least, she is...a bit of a useless lesbian. To this day, she wouldn't be able to tell you why (because if she could, she'd be trying like crazy to change it), but she's extremely easily flustered by any beautiful or sexy girls/women, be they closer to her own age or older. If they actively flirt with her, she'll be even more of a wreck than normal. Either way, she's prone to easily crushing, though, should she actually hook up with someone, she'd be a loving and loyal (if not insanely awkward) partner.
APPEARANCE
HEIGHT: 5'2"
WEIGHT: 101 lbs
EYE COLOR: Yellow
HAIR COLOR: A very pale pink color
FACECLAIM NAME: Sakura Saber/Souji Okita
FACECLAIM SERIES: Fate series
A fairly slender girl who is of fairly average height for a girl her age, Setsuna doesn't stand out much...at least not when she's wearing the school's uniform. When permitted to dress in whatever she wants, she ends to wear a rather showy pink kimono with a light purple hakama. Her proposed Hero costume is even less subtle, consisting primarily of a very short white, sleeveless kimono and a bright blue and white jacket heavily inspired by the historical Shinsengumi uniform
How she dresses normally
The Hero costume she plans to use, though it would probably include some kind of helmet or mask to hide her identity as well.
Her body is rather slender, her chest being rather lacking in its development and leaving her prone to some occasional boob envy. Her hair, which she likes to keep at just above shoulder-length, is a rather odd, incredibly pale shade of pink that can look white or even lightly blonde depending on the lighting. She often wears a ribbon on the back of her head.
HISTORY
Setsuna grew up in a small farming village in the mountains, one that, while not entirely cut off from the modern world, was still the perfect picture of the backwaters country place that's "behind the times". Few people living there even had cell phones, and held very traditional views. Of course, not even they were free of villainy, even if it was limited to thugs trying to damage or destroy fields on farms for some arbitrary reason.
Her mother was the local heroes who fought against these thugs. While nowhere near as famous or influential as the many Pro Heroes you hear about, she was more or less exactly what the village needed...until the village decided she wasn't needed anymore. Even a small village like this had its dark side, and there were a select few who profited off of the "work" of those thugs that Setsuna's mother was stopping.
So, they did the most logical thing they could think of, and accuse her of a blatantly made-up crime, then doubling down when she called them out on it and having her arrested on even more blatantly trumped-up charges. Unfortunately for them, their plan worked a little too well. With their only threat gone, criminal activity skyrocketed, and none of them were willing to cut any deals with the same corrupt officials anymore.
In a last-ditch effort to fix their mess, Setsuna's mother was pardoned for her "crimes" and let out of prison, which included a not-very-subtle demand that she "do something about the mess she caused". Outraged by the pure audacity and hypocrisy on display, she instead opted to pack everything up and leave the village, taking her family with her. An admittedly heartless move on her part, as the criminals there continued to run rampant.
But she was understandably bitter by their betrayal, and she didn't care if she ended up hated by everyone there; she was done with that awful place. Setsuna was barely a year old when all of this went down, so she barely remembered any of it while growing up. When she did learn of what had happened several years later, she was outraged at how her mother had been treated by the very people she'd been protecting.
When Setsuna was about ten years old, she saw something that changed her life; an old samurai movie. To this day, she wouldn't be able to tell you exactly what it was about this movie that clicked with her so much, but whatever it was, it clicked hard. From that day forward, she became borderline-obsessed with samurai, to the point of dreaming to become one herself, which eventually shifted to a somewhat more realistic goal of being a Hero.
Who was themed after samurais, of course.
As soon as she was old enough to legally be allowed to do so, she began taking kendo classes, and quickly proved to be a natural at it. It was also around this time that she discovered what her quirk did; she was aware that she probably had one, but it wasn't until she held a bokken in her hands for the first time that she actually realized what it was. Needless to say, she was very quick to begin experimenting with it.
Setsuna's mother, having been disillusioned by what had happened to her and giving up being a hero after moving away from her village, was reluctant to support Setsuna's endeavors to become a hero. Setsuna, for her part, was understanding, and could see why her mother would hesitate, so she took it in stride. Nevertheless, seeing her daughter act so passionate about something made her reconsider her stance, so she decided to help her out.
Initially, she had hoped to be able to pull some strings and get Setsuna enrolled at Seiai, feeling like it would be the best environment for her. However, Setsuna already had her heart set on a different school; Seijin academy. While many of the students there tended to gravitate more towards ninjutsu, she was confident that their training would be greatly beneficial for evolving her sword techniques to even greater heights.
Her mother couldn't exactly argue with that logic, so she gave her blessings. Besides, it was a lot closer to where they lived, so she couldn't exactly complain. Regardless, with years of sword training and practice with her quirk under her belt, Setsuna enrolled in Seijin, and ultimately passed the entrance exam. Now, she eagerly looked forward to seeing what this exciting new life would have in store for her.

• a portable gaming system with numerous samurai games installed
Quirk AND SKILLS
QUIRK: Xylokinesis
QUIRK TYPE: Emitter
QUIRK RANK: Silver
QUIRK DESCRIPTION: A simple-but-effective quirk in which Setsuna is able to physically alter the properties wood. Whether it's an actual branch of a tree or a something that has been carved out of wood like a figurine or a wooden sword, it doesn't matter; if it's it's small and/or light enough to fit into her hands, she can use her power on it. Getting to the point, there are two main ways that she can use her ability to manipulate a wooden object.
The first and most common usage is that she can change the physical makeup of the object to take on other properties that most wood wouldn't normally have. To give just a few examples, she can, theoretically make it soft to the touch or as hard as steel. She could also make it feel like rubber or leather. If the object is some sort of wooden sword, she could even make it as sharp as a real sword if she absolutely wanted to.
At at least, that's the idea. As it turns out, the actual property manipulation is more difficult than expected, and she can only keep it up for so long; about five posts in total. Additionally, while the potential is there, there's actually a limit on how hard she can actually make a wooden object. At her current level, she can strengthen a wooden object to be hard enough to withstand a Silver level attack without risk of damaging or breaking the object.
She can also sharpen the blade of a wooden sword (or otherwise ad an edge to any wooden object that could plausibly be used like a sword, such as a peel or a spurtle). Again, there's a limit on how sharp she can make something made of wood; she'd be able to make them sharp enough to, with considerable effort, cut through anything with a hardness that's equal to Silver rank; anything lower than Silver can rather easily be cut through.
The other use, and one she doesn't use as often is that she can, within reason, change the shape of a wooden object. Unlike her first usage, this one is a fair bit more limited. She can't outright change the size of an object, only "bend" it into different shapes; for example, she wouldn't be able to make a wooden figuring any taller, shorter or wider than it already is, but she would be able to change the pose that said figurine is in.
In the case of a wooden sword, she could make the blade more curved or vice versa, or even make it more jagged or coil it into a drill-like shape. So long as it doesn't actively extend or shorten the length of the blade itself, she could make it just about any shape she wanted, allowing her to adapt to her opponent as needed. Needless to say, she intends to experiment with this application as much as humanly possible.
QUIRK DRAWBACKS: First of all, in order to even use her quirk at all, it must actually be made of wood, and not a synthetic wood like wood-plastic composites or a grass that resembles wood like bamboo. As already mentioned, it also must be small and/or light enough to fit in her hands, meaning she cannot use her power on a living tree or an extremely large wooden structure.
It also doesn't work on anything made using wood pulp, such as paper, nor can she use it on sawdust; don't think she didn't try.
While not enough to be a serious detriment to her health, maintaining her power can still drain her energy relatively quickly. She has to rest for a bit (at least three posts) before she can reactivate her quirk, and there's a limit to how much she can keep doing it in a single day; each time she reactivates her quirk in the same day, the number of posts she can maintain it is reduced by one.
Should she completely exhaust her quirk, she'll be be so weak and exhausted that she will likely need to be carried by someone else if she ends up needing to go anywhere. Either way, at least eight hours of sleep (preferably without interruption) is required for her to be able to use her quirk to its fullest potential once it's been used up completely; if she doesn't completely use it up, then only a few hours is necessary to restore it to full strength.
Also, no matter how much she alters the properties of a wooden object, there is one thing she cannot change no matter what; wood can very easily catch fire and burn away, and even if it isn't outright reduced to ash, her quirk has no effect on any wood that has been heavily-charred. The effects of Xylokinesis only affect an object that is physically in her hand, so if she drops or tries to throw an object, it will instantly revert back to its original state.
Last but not least, a steady diet containing a lot of tree fruits is required for her to be able to use her Quirk to its fullest potential. It doesn't matter how it's prepared, as long as the fruit itself is still front the main ingredient in whatever dish is prepared, and that the large portion of the actual fruit is present in the dish. This unfortunately means that simply drinking fruit juice or eating a dessert flavored with such a juice won't do the trick.
For the most part, the general consensus seems to be that she'll be fine so long as she eats at least 38 oz of actual fruit a day, which is roughly equivalent to eating five apples; which seems simple enough, but can be easier said than done depending on the situation. Eating less than that in a single day reduces the number of posts she can keep her quirk active by 1 during the next day. Eating more does not give any boosts.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, any sort of meat, fish or shellfish (i.e. anything that was once a living creature or part of one) seems to have the opposite effect, and will actively weaken her quirk unless she eats an equal amount of tree fruits to negate it; for every serving's worth of meat (usually around 6 oz) she eats, the number of posts she can keep her quirk active goes down by 1 unless she immediately follows it by eating close to same weight in tree fruits.
Anything else (vegetables, dairy, non-tree fruits, etc) seem to have a neutral effect; eating it won't adversely effect her quirk in any way, but it won't exactly do her any favors either. Either way, she already liked tree fruits and disliked meat even before discovering this aspect of her quirk, so, short of simply not finding enough fruit for whatever reason, this hasn't really become an issue for her.
SKILL NAME: Seijin Ninjutsu (Swords)
SKILL RANK: Silver
SKILL DESCRIPTION: Setsuna was already fairly proficient with a sword before she began attending Seijin thanks to her kendo training. However, the training she's received since joining has even further extended her skill with the blade, as well as just fighting in general. She understands weapon training, acrobatics, and stealth on an intermediate level.
SKILL NAME: Enhanced Dexterity
SKILL RANK: Bronze
SKILL DESCRIPTION: Her training with the sword has given her slightly faster than average reaction speeds and dexterity, which she takes advantage of with her swords. She has a split-second edge where reaction time is important.
